Certified Public Accountant Examination

Taylor University is one of few schools in the country that dedicates courses to preparing business students for the CPA exams. Seniors may take an additional course during their last semester to prepare for their CPA examination testing immediately after graduation. By utilizing our January academic term over four years, students regularly earn the 150 semester hours required to sit for the CPA exam, avoiding the time and cost of a fifth year of higher education. With Taylor graduates immediately eligible and prepared to take the exam, they are better marketed to future employers, often being the first of newly-hired CPA-firm employees to pass the CPA exam. Taylor University’s Accounting graduates have often been ranked nationally in the annual report on average first-time passing rates for sections of the CPA exam.

Accounting Degree Program Features

During your four years in our ACBSP-accredited business program, Accounting majors will prepare for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam, the accounting profession’s highest credential, and build analytical skills and competency through practical opportunities in the business field. A required practicum in the accounting field will open your mind to employment possibilities and provide the professional training you need to jumpstart your accounting career. Taylor Accounting internships are unique, allowing students to gain academic credit for busy-season internships with public accounting firms. The internships often lead to job offers before students begin their senior year.

Through case studies, you will learn how to use managerial or cost accounting to help organizations make decisions and achieve their financial objectives. Taylor provides optional educational tracks that prepare students to take the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) exam before graduation. The CMA credential is the global benchmark for managerial accounting.

Auditing classes will teach you how to assure stakeholders that the organization’s claimed financial position and operational results are credible.
