Taylor Theatre Presents First Ever Dance Production

Taylor University’s Theatre program will present its first ever dance production, Moments, a journey through dance, October 6 at 9:00 pm and October 7 at 1:30 pm in Taylor’s Mitchell Theatre.

The show traces a journey through Taylor’s musical history up to the present day with numbers from such iconic shows as Oklahoma!, 42nd Street, and Mary Poppins. “When I was first invited to choreograph at Taylor, it was 2007 and the show was Thoroughly Modern Millie,” says Kory Browder, the show’s director and choreographer. “At that time there were no dance classes or dance events offered at the university, and a lot of the students didn't dance in general…Now, in 2017, we have ballet, tap, jazz, and musical theatre classes being offered.

“We have a full dance production by the Music, Theater, and Dance department; which has grown exponentially over the past 10 years,” she added. “Being able to create and perform such a production as Moments is evidence of that growth. It is an honor and pleasure to work with the department and the students. There is so much diversity and talent, and we were able to produce a show that contained many styles to showcase that. Every dance style and genre is displayed in this collection of pieces. A great opportunity for everyone to come and enjoy this premiere dance performance.”
