Mathematics (Major/Minor)

Take in the world around you and translate what you see into practical problem-solving skills

Explore Mathematics as an analytical or artistic form, challenging yourself to pursue wisdom and logic and make calculated, wise decisions across a variety of situations.

Our Mathematics curriculum will develop your understanding of theoretical and applied mathematics, including calculus, statistics, and methods of proof. You will become a competent and creative problem-solver, theorist, and critical analyst. The default Mathematics major is also strong preparation for graduate study.

  • Alexander MacFarland

    Class of 2022

Thoughtful conversations with professors from the Math and Computer Science departments were extremely valuable. Faculty helped me find internships and eventually a job with Peraton Labs.

  • Allie (Ternet) Carter

    Class of 2019

One of my most valuable experiences at Taylor was being part of the Mathematics department. The resources and the time spent getting help from professors were invaluable.

  • Kaitlin (Russ) Arvin

    Class of 2016

It’s a challenging major, but I built such close relationships with my classmates. I enjoyed participating in math competitions, listening to guest speakers, and serving on the Math Club board.
