Psychology (Major/Minor)

Discover how God has designed us to interact with the world and each other.

Our passionate faculty will help you unpack difficult questions while grounding scientific exploration in faithful witness to God’s goodness. As a psychology student at Taylor, you’ll get the chance to explore monastic ruins in Ireland, provide support to at-risk individuals, design and conduct research on topics that interest you – and you will also grow in your understanding of yourself and other people’s motivations, personalities, influences, abilities, and cultures.

Psychology is a major with unlimited applications, and our graduates are representing Christ in a wide variety of fields all over the world. The Psychology major is an ideal foundation for graduate study and career preparation. All courses are taught from a Christian perspective and train our students to apply a Biblical worldview to the study of God’s most magnificent creation: people!

Behind a Psychology Degree

"My greatest desire would be that students would come here and that they would leave knowing more about the Lord that they serve, about how he create them and about how they can serve Him."

- Dr. Laura Gerig, Chair of the Psychology Department

  • Psychology Pre-Med Major Track

Study the human mind and its impact on human behavior, while building a foundation in the sciences with courses in biology, chemistry, math, and physics. By adding the Pre-Med curriculum to a Psychology degree, our students are well-prepared for the MCAT and entrance into medical, dental, and allied health schools.

  • Minor in Psychology

  • Isabelle Erb

    Class of 2023

As I strive for a doctoral degree, it is already evident that my experiences at Taylor in the Psychology department have prepared me well for life after Taylor and continuing my education.

  • Andrew Rieck

    Class of 2020

I loved walking into my professors’ offices and talking about class or even my personal life. Even though I’m now a Youth Pastor, I use the knowledge I gained from my courses on a daily basis.

  • Nicole Hale

    Class of 2023

The practicum opportunity I had working with children in an autism center, which was originally what I wanted to do. Without that practicum, I wouldn’t have known I wanted to work with adults.
