Summer Orientation

We are excited to welcome you into the Taylor community, and we hope that a day on campus this summer will be just what you need to prepare for your transition to campus!

Here’s what to expect at Summer Orientation:

  • Your Fall Schedule – you’ll have time to meet with academic advisors and change your schedule
  • Housing Info – you’ll get to see your room, measure it, and may connect with your roommate
  • Parent Sessions – your parents will learn about the onboarding process and online portals
  • To-Do List – you’ll have time to complete tasks like turning in forms or setting up online accounts
  • Prep for Fall – you can get your student ID, set up payroll for when you find a campus job, etc.

Event Details
  • Summer Orientation is from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Registration is in the LaRita Boren Campus Center.
  • Cost is $15 per accepted student or $30 for accepted student & family (unlimited family members). This is charged to the student’s account.

There are several forms you’ll need to complete before school begins. We have scheduled time for you to turn these in during orientation.

On-Campus Jobs

You can get set up for payroll before you have an on-campus job! Human Resources will hold your completed forms so that when you find an on-campus job, they can be filed immediately. Fill out these work-related forms and turn them in at orientation:

It’s also helpful to bring the documents needed to complete the I-9 form (listed on the last page of the form). They must be the originals, not copies. Acceptable documents include:

  • Passport
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Social Security Card
  • Birth Certificate

Bringing your bank account information will also allow you to set up direct deposit for payroll.

Before You Come to Orientation

Please create your login to the My Taylor portal before Summer Orientation. You should have received an email from 4040@taylor.edu when you paid your deposit containing information about accessing our web portal, My.Taylor.edu.

Get Your Course Schedule Before Orientation

Access to your course schedule for the fall semester will be sent to your personal email address in June. The email will come from registrar@taylor.edu. Before Summer Orientation, be sure to explore the Degree Audit portal on MyTaylor since this is where you’ll find info about your classes, official GPA, credits, and more.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the cost? Is there an extra cost for parents, siblings, and guests?

The cost of Summer Orientation is:

  • $15 for accepted student
  • $30 for accepted student & family

If a student comes alone the charge is $15. If the student comes with any number (unlimited) of guests, the charge is $30. The cost of Summer Orientation is not included in regular fees/ tuition, so the fee is assessed for all students who attend Summer Orientation, regardless of final enrollment status.

What should I bring?

If you have questions about paperwork or information you have received, please bring this with you so that we can best be of assistance to you.

If you are interested in an on-campus job, there will be opportunity to complete the necessary Employment Eligibility Verification paperwork during Summer Orientation. A variety of specific original unexpired documents are acceptable for this verification. Four common options are listed here.

  • Valid U.S. Passport or U.S. Passport Card
  • Valid driver’s license (or ID card) with photograph AND original social security card
  • Valid driver’s license (or ID card) with photograph AND original birth certificate
  • Valid driver’s license (or ID card) with photograph AND certified copy of birth certificate

When/how do we pay?

  2. Pay at the registration table by cash or check.
  3. Let us know and we will bill the student account.

Will meals be provided?

Yes! Lunch will be provided for everyone attending Summer Orientation.

What if I’m unable to attend?

That’s okay! Summer Orientation is not mandatory. If you cannot make it, email your Admissions Counselor. You will be mailed the necessary information (such as class registration and your housing information) after Summer Orientation.
