What will my application include?

We want to hear how you came to faith in Christ and what God is doing in your life.

You can do this by writing your story and sharing it with us. Or if you prefer, you can instead share your story with an Admissions Counselor in person during a campus visit or over the phone.

Help us get to know you better as a student by providing us with your high school transcript. You can have it mailed directly to your Admissions Counselor or emailed to admissions@taylor.edu.

Taylor University is “test-preferred, but flexible.” We recognize test scores are only part of your story. We consider a student’s complete application file in making an admission decision.

We review applications with or without ACT, SAT, or CLT test scores. If you are unable or choose not to submit test scores, we may ask you to share more information, such as:

  • Provide recommendations from high school English and/or mathematics teachers
  • Complete an academic questionnaire (if your high school GPA is at or below 2.9)
  • Provide completed AP courses or a writing sample to determine your English course placement
  • Complete Taylor University proficiency exams in reading and mathematics

If we ask you for more information, your application is incomplete until you provide it.

We ask that you provide the name and contact information for a pastor, mentor, or any adult (not a family member) who can speak of your spiritual walk. We may reach out to them to complete the reference form.

Tips for Academic Preparation

At Taylor, we evaluate every applicant by the same set of standards. We evaluate your academic preparedness and achievement through your grade point average, class rank (if applicable), and SAT, ACT, or CLT scores (if applicable). Challenging curriculum, including advanced placement and dual credit courses from a college, receive special consideration.

We have high standards for our students. If you plan to apply to Taylor, you should complete a challenging high school course load that will prepare you for our rigorous coursework.

Your high school course load should include each the following:

  • English: 4 years
  • Mathematics: 3-4 years; algebra, geometry, advanced algebra, calculus, or trigonometry
  • Laboratory Science: 3-4 years; biology, chemistry, or physics
  • Social Science: 2 years; American History, European History, government, sociology, psychology, or economics
  • Foreign Language: 2 years strongly recommended
  • Music: Introductory course strongly recommended
  • Art: Introductory course strongly recommended
