I grew up near Upland and began attending Taylor in the fall of 2017. After graduating, I worked as an auditor for the DoD Inspector General and moved to Carmel, IN, attending College Park Church. I am now a financial planner at Ronald Blue Trust, a firm that exists to help Christians become financially free to assist in fulfilling the Great Commission.
One of my most valuable experiences at Taylor was the opportunity to travel abroad to Israel for three weeks over J-term. Surveying the holy land throughout the entire country enriched my study of Scripture and personal relationship with our Creator. Another valuable experience was the opportunity to serve in a leadership role for two years that helped to develop a posture of servant-leadership.
As an accounting major with a minor in mathematics, I had some challenging classes. But the academic rigor prepared me extremely well for the professional world. My professors taught me how to integrate my faith into their fields and set me up for success in earning professional designations, such as my CPA license.
In the financial services industry, sage advice is everything. This makes true and never-changing wisdom of the Bible essential in counseling clients. My unique Taylor education prepared me for tackling deep life issues with clients and relating to them on multiple levels.
I would advise students in my discipline to take initiative in their learning, which will set them apart from the rest of the field. I would also encourage them to continually reset their priorities in light of eternity, making the best use of their time.
