My name is Daidra. I went to Manchester College for my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Mild Intervention. Since then, I have been teaching mild/moderate students at the same high school. I then went back to school for my Master's Degree and graduated in 2012. Then, in 2021, I went back to get my ABA certification, and as soon as I finished that I started at Taylor University for my Intense Intervention license. Since finishing, I have been teaching both Mild/Moderate and Intense Intervention students.
I was able to gain a lot of useful knowledge. Not only that, but during the time that I was taking the courses there were items I had to make for one particular class that have been very useful this year. It was a very focused class on the students I am currently working with, so the materials I made have been used multiple times.
The professors were amazing! Although the courses were self-paced, I was able to communicate with them through email anytime that I had questions. They typically responded within a few hours and were very helpful.
If you are going for special education, then you can use everything you have gained in my area.
Keep Going! I know that the profession can seem hard, but it is important. We wouldn't have the doctors, nurses, etc. that we do without the teachers from elementary to high school. These are the ones who lay the foundations for those students. Teaching is a great profession and one that can bring a lot of joy.
