I graduated from Taylor with a BS in Human Physiology and Preventive Medicine, and a minor in counseling. I will be attending Texas A&M University next year to begin a PhD in Counseling Psychology.
Playing football for 4 years, including being a captain, living on the same floor all 4 years, and being a part of the Human Physiology major were all very valuable and growing experiences while I was at Taylor.
Many of my classes encouraged me to see life in a more holistic sense as opposed to different, isolated boxes. I was encouraged to think about my profession and my faith through a biblical lens. My professors grew to be more than just teachers, but also mentors and people that I was happy to go to with any situation I was dealing with. I knew that I could trust my professors.
The foundational core opened my eyes to so much more to think about than what I had learned in Sunday school as a kid. It lovingly showed me the other ways to think about my faith, while still building me up in the faith. I feel that I can better relate to people of all backgrounds since I have had a wide variety of learning experiences.
Be willing to do the hard things in life and learn from the pain that life brings. Also be willing to listen to other people and put yourself in their shoes.
