Data can be viewed as unprocessed information. Human beings are quite savvy and have demonstrably taken advantage of this, for good and for bad. Processing data with both our minds and our hearts, we are indeed rational and emotional beings playing as decision-makers with data. Thus, to be educated mathematically and spiritually, to be disciplined in the mind and in our desires becomes a crucial and non-trivial task for the Christian.
This is why I came to serve at Taylor: to have the opportunity to grow in wisdom and the opportunity to foster a program endeavoring towards this task. I trust that Jesus guides us best when he reminds us,
"And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength."—Mark 12:30
With complete surrender to the Lord, the task for our hearts and minds is clear.
"Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God."—Colossians 3:1-3
My prayer is that I and my students would embrace these truths and glorify God with our desires and our minds as we await the blessed hope.
Oh, and I also like to play Ultimate Frisbee!
