Adjunct Professor of Communication
His 21 years as a full-time residential communication professor included faculty positions at three universities. He also has served as an adjunct online instructor and an online course developer.
During his time in academia, Dr. Greer authored and co-authored 25 research articles that were published in several scholarly journals. He also is co-author with Dr. Doug Ferguson of the chapter, “The diffusion of virtual reality in local television news” in The Rowman & Littlefield Handbook of Media Management and Business.
Dr. Greer’s course topics have included interactive media, qualitative and quantitative research methods, organizational communication, strategic communication, communication theory, blogging, television news production, writing for media, speech, and public relations. He developed many residential courses over his career as a university professor, as well as several online courses in his areas of specialization.
Prior to entering academia, Dr. Greer spent more than a decade employed at for-profit companies and nonprofit organizations. His experience includes public relations, marketing communications, and advertising as a production artist. In addition, he spent time in radio news as a reporter and news director. He is founder of Derecho Cat Media LLC, which focuses on communication research and strategies, and public relations.
