Biography

Why I Enjoy Teaching at Taylor

Dr. Wetzel enjoys teaching at Taylor because of the opportunities to integrate faith and learning. He enjoys helping students think “Christianly” about American history, especially the role that religious people have played in it.

Dr. Wetzel studies the intersection of American religious, political, and intellectual history in the period from 1860 to 1920. His latest book, a study of American Christian commentary on the Civil War, Spanish-American War, and World War I, was published by Cornell University Press in 2022.

Hobbies

In his spare time, Dr. Wetzel enjoys spending time with his wife and watching all kinds of sports.
