Student Media Opportunities
Where You Get to Tell the Stories
If you excel at writing, editing, public speaking, graphic design, photography, or videography, put your talents to work with various media organizations around campus. You can gain professional experience, get paid, and expand your portfolio by working on one of our fun and challenging media teams.
Birrama Creative is a student-run creative design and marketing agency. Students with skills in graphic design, videography, photography, social media, and other skills gain practical work experience in marketing events, brands, and products.
Participate in Taylor’s award-winning student-run newspaper, The Echo, where journalistically-inclined students will gain professional experience through volunteer or paid positions by contributing articles, working as a section editor, or managing web content and social media. The team also has opportunities for videographers, photographers, and designers. This weekly paper that has provided breaking news coverage since 1913 and created an interactive space where students around campus are the voice and you can be The Echo. The Film program’s internal video production team shoots live events, produces chapel videos three times a week from their television control room, and produces client projects on contract. Join Taylor’s student-run yearbook staff as a designer, photographer, writer, editor, or public relations strategist to help create a 200+ page publication. You can write feature content, capture event photos, and layout exciting spreads to tell campus stories. Learn to collaborate with a creative team to produce a publication that preserves Taylor history and presents memories for students to cherish after graduation. Students with a passion for music events can volunteer with Taylor Student Organization’s Mainstage, which brings music and dance acts to campus and produces other music events.
Do you enjoy running live sound or doing technology set-ups for campus events and conferences? Learn valuable technology skills with a paid position on Taylor’s Media Services team. Every decision in this annual campus literary magazine—from selecting and editing works to designing and laying out the book—is made by a student editorial staff. By joining the staff, you will gain skills in editing, publishing, and design and create portfolio materials that will impress future employers. As a contributor, you can submit your creative work and be published. Be a part of Parnassus’ over 50-year legacy of showcasing student art in the forms of writing and photography. Edit the works of major poets and storytellers, manage social media, and work on the publication side of creative writing with this national literary journal. English students have the opportunity to work closely with editors and contributors, and non-English students are welcomed to submit pieces for publication.
