Steven Day 11 September 2020
Taylor Theatre presents Stephen Schwartz’s Godspell September 11-13 and September 17-19 at 7:30 pm.
In commitment to the safety and well being of students and patrons alike, Taylor Theatre has made the decision to rehearse and perform a main stage production outdoors for the first time in its program’s history. Godspell will be performed behind the Mitchell theatre, on the southeast corner of Reade Avenue and S Third Street. Audience members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to be used as seating during the performance.
Tickets must be purchased at the door, contact the box office with questions: 765-998-5289 and boxoffice@taylor.edu.
In the midst of pandemic, world-wide social justice movements, and political polarization, our generation is undoubtedly at the mercy of complex circumstances in which hope seems out of reach. With a book by John-Michael Tebelak and musical and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, Godspell invites us to consider the way in which the Gospel might frame a response to our realities. Through a series of games and songs such as Day by Day, We Beseech Thee, and Light of the World, Gospell’s cast of 10 embarks on a journey of meeting Jesus, learning to surrender, and embracing a community of faith.
Godspell is directed by Tracy Manning with choreography by Kory Browder and Taylor Alumna Jennifer Walcott.
Taylor Theatre provides an immersive experience for audiences and participants by pursuing excellence on and off the stage, embracing difficulty and asking questions in pursuit of truth.
