Upland, Indiana—A program on the Taylor campus on Tuesday, April 27, will highlight the newly-released book Hinge Moments—Making the Most of Life's Transitions by Taylor University’s incoming President, Dr. Michael Lindsay.
Scheduled from 3–5 pm, the event will begin in the Rediger Chapel/Auditorium with introductions and a question and answer session moderated by Taylor University’s Provost and Executive Vice President Dr. Michael Hammond.
Taylor officials say the first 200 to arrive for the 3 pm, event will receive a complimentary copy of Hinge Moments—Making the Most of Life’s Transitions.
The second portion of the event will be a book signing in the Chapel/Auditorium lobby.
Lindsay, the outgoing President at Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts, was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize for Nonfiction for his book Faith in the Halls of Power. He is the author of two dozen scholarly publications and numerous books, including View from the Top, which has been translated into Chinese and Japanese.
He holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from Princeton University and graduate theological degrees from Wycliffe Hall at Oxford University and Princeton Theological Seminary. He is a summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Baylor University where he has been named Outstanding Young Alumnus.
According to InterVarsity Press the book’s publisher, hinge moments represent, “opportunities to open (or close) doors to various pathways of our lives … getting these moments right can change our lives for the better, and getting them wrong can pose problems for years to come.
The book was borne out of a 10-year study of 550 individuals known as “PLATINUM leaders.”
Lindsay will be the featured chapel speaker the next morning at 10 am, in Rediger. He will begin his term as President of Taylor in mid-August. Lindsay is a married father of three.
