Taylor University’s Event & Venue Planning class is hosting a Career Fair for 6-12th graders at The King’s Academy, a small Christian school in Jonesboro, Indiana, on Friday, Nov. 12, 2021.
The Career Fair will feature 10 different speakers from nine unique professions, including an illustrator, a nurse, a painter, a policeman, a photographer, and others. Students will attend three 20-minute sessions, hearing from three different speakers of their choice based on their favorite professions.
“We want to provide knowledge and insight to young students so they can start thinking about what they want to do in the future,” said senior Joey DiNaso, Communication major and a member of the class. “It might seem like being a working professional is in the very distant future for them, but it is always good to know what you are interested in and get a glimpse into real world work.”
The class is one of several featured in the Public Relations major of Taylor's Communication Department and is taught by Professor Donna Downs.
“I’m proud of the students’ work on this project,” Downs said, “and I’m excited to see their hard work come to fruition Friday. Planning events like this gives us an opportunity to learn as we serve and serve as we learn.”
