Taylor University is set to welcome the second-largest class in its 176-year history. The University’s annual Welcome Weekend kicks off when freshmen and transfer students begin moving into residence halls at 8 am, Friday, August 26.
The newest members of the Taylor family hail from 31 states and 11 countries, 53% women, 47% men. The incoming class reflects the academic prowess of the University with 41% reporting a cumulative GPA of 4.0+ and 71%, 3.7+.
The good news for Taylor’s fall enrollment continues as the University anticipates a 92% retention rate for its second-year students – rivaling the freshmen-to-sophomore year retention rate of some of the most prestigious universities in the country.
“Taylor University has long been recognized as one of our nation’s premier Christ-centered institutions of higher learning,” said Holly Whitby, Vice President for Enrollment & Marketing. “This is repeatedly demonstrated not only in the statistics of our incoming class, but also by Taylor’s high retention rate, graduation rate, classroom performance, and the community impact of our students.”
Welcome Weekend concludes with an all-campus communion service Sunday evening as Taylor’s incoming class is surrounded by upperclassmen who welcome them and pray for them. On Monday, Taylor’s annual Community Plunge, a 30+-year tradition that calls the Taylor community to bless their neighbors, will send hundreds of Taylor students, faculty, and staff members into the Upland community to volunteer and serve joyfully.
