Taylor University welcomes Lori Fauquher, MS, PA-C, as inaugural director of its physician assistant program approved by their Board of Trustees earlier this year.
Fauquher comes to Taylor with nearly 20 years of experience as a physician assistant in various areas such as emergency medicine, orthopedics, and family medicine. She currently serves as Assistant Director of Experiential Education and as an assistant professor in Butler University’s physician assistant program.
“Our prayer is that Taylor’s PA program will meet a growing industry demand with graduates well trained in patient-centered care, driven by the love of Christ,” said Provost Dr. Jewerl Maxwell. “Lori’s professional experiences and faithful convictions will provide the kind of leadership required to create this type of culture.”
Fauquher is excited to blend her educational and professional experiences at Butler University with her clinical work to build a premier PA program built on Biblical truth. More importantly, this appointment fulfills a lifelong dream.
“I am honored to be a part of launching the PA program at Taylor,” Fauquher said. “Being part of such an esteemed and established university like Taylor, where medical education integrates into a Christian environment, has been a professional and spiritual goal of mine.”
Fauquher is a lifelong Hoosier who was born and raised in Muncie, Indiana. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and Wellness from the Honors College at Ball State University. She worked as a personal trainer in central Indiana prior to earning her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of St. Francis.
She is an active member of the Indiana Academy of Physician Assistants (IAPA), previously on its board of directors as president, vice president, and director at-large. She is also a member of the Physician Assistant Education Association, where she has served on both local and national committees.
Fauquher and her husband P.J. have been married for 25 years. They are active members of The Compass Church and enjoy engaging in sporting events and game nights with their four children.
Taylor hopes to welcome its first PA cohort in Fall 2025 pending accreditation approval. The program fulfills Taylor’s strategic commitment to widen its circle of learners to include graduate and professional students. It also meets a growing demand in the healthcare industry. Physician assistant careers are expected to grow nearly 30 percent in the next decade due to an aging population and increasing number of physicians who are expected to retire.
Taylor University has applied for Accreditation-Provisional from the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). Taylor University anticipates matriculating its first class in August 2025, pending achieving Accreditation-Provisional status at the March 2025 ARC-PA meeting. Accreditation-Provisional is an accreditation status granted when the plans and resource allocation, if fully implemented as planned, of a proposed program that has not yet enrolled students appear to demonstrate the program’s ability to meet the ARC-PA Standards or when a program holding accreditation-provisional status appears to demonstrate continued progress in complying with the Standards as it prepares for the graduation of the first class (cohort) of students.
