Alice Tsang, Professor of Finance at Taylor University, was featured in WalletHub’s June Economic Index, a monthly survey that evaluates economic prospects based on 10 components of consumer sentiment.
Tsang was asked to share her insights into the country’s economic outlook, consumer behavior, repercussions from the recent banking crisis and stock market challenges, and how to protect personal finances.
“I believe the jury is still out regarding the full impact of recent Fed actions on the economy,” Tsang wrote. “High home prices and significantly higher mortgage rates are already dampening demand from home buyers. Tightened credit and higher interest rates could slow business expansion. Individuals who have stable income from employment and investments should build up some margins to help them weather any economic downturn. This means they should be wise with their spending and invest well to increase their financial cushion.”
Tsang cares deeply about increasing financial literacy and making data-based financial knowledge more accessible to more people. She has taught finance since 2010 and joined Taylor’s Business Department in 2021. Tsang is a CFA charter holder and received degrees from the University of Hong Kong and NYU Stern School of Business.
