Taylor University is pleased to announce a $5 million lead gift to fund the construction of a new Welcome Center. The gift commitment came through the generosity of an alumna and her family.
Taylor’s Admissions and Alumni offices welcome thousands of visitors to campus and Upland, Indiana, each year. With a vision towards growth for both the University and its local community, Taylor’s Board of Trustees has included this impactful investment in the University’s recently released Campus Master Plan.
“Taylor’s significant growth in enrollment and campus visitors, combined with a desire to offer a more robust venue for alumni engagement, all of which helps draw visitors to our region, are key parts of the vision for the building,” said Chris Goeglein, Chairman of Taylor’s Board.
An engaging campus visit begins in an inviting space where guests can make connections and experience Taylor’s warm hospitality. Taylor’s new Welcome Center will become the “front door” of campus—with every guest welcomed to this space upon arrival. Attached to the north end of the Boren Campus Center, the Welcome Center will be in the heart of campus and provide guests with a memorable first impression. In addition, a new vibrant café will be added close to the Center.
The 20,000+ square-foot Welcome Center will house Admissions, Advancement, Alumni and Parent Relations, Marketing, and the President’s office. The lobby will offer a comfortable, modern space with a central hearth and fireplace to greet prospective students, alumni, donors, and friends of the University. From the second floor, guests will have a prime view of the new Horne Academic Center (scheduled to open in 2024) and access to planned expansions for the Rediger Chapel and Cornwall Auditorium.
“We look forward to seeing how God will continue to bless this endeavor, and we are very thankful to the generous family who has ignited this important project for Taylor,” said President Michael Lindsay.
Detailed plans for the new building will be released in 2024, including plans to move the current tennis courts and track to the west side of campus.
