Taylor University’s Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) will host its 10th biannual Shop the Loop Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024, from 2 to 5 p.m. on campus outside the LaRita Boren Campus Center.

Shop the Loop is a marketplace for students to sell their goods and services. Vendors range from photographers to jewelry makers to homemade maple syrup makers, among others. The event encourages the community to support students who own small businesses or who have creative gifts that would benefit others.

This year, Shop the Loop will take place over Taylor’s Homecoming and Family Weekend. This allows students the opportunity to bring their loved ones along as they enjoy the creativity and entrepreneurial skill of the Taylor student body.

“Shop the Loop has been so well received by the Taylor community that we were honored to be asked to host it at Homecoming for the third year in a row,” says Dr. Donna Downs, PRSSA faculty adviser. “We're excited about the doors this will open to student vendors who can receive recognition beyond our campus.”

Free Neighborhood Fresh donuts will be served at the event, the cost of which has been underwritten by Neighborhood Fresh Market in Gas City and a local donor.

All event proceeds beyond what the vendors make for themselves will go toward Public Relations student scholarships. Anyone interested in underwriting the event or donating to the scholarship can contact Donna Downs at (765) 998-4927 or dndowns@taylor.edu.

Although the event is scheduled to take place outdoors, the location will move inside Smith-Hermanson Music Center in case of inclement weather.
