The Taylor University Art Department is hosting an art exhibition titled “PERM: Women from the Taylor University Permanent Collection.” The exhibit is currently featured in Metcalf Gallery until October 10.
The exhibit features work from the Boren Art Gallery, Zondervan Library, and the Art Department collection, including work by Taylor graduates and prints by women in CIVA (Christians in the Visual Arts). Spanning a wide range of artistic styles and processes, this work showcases the breadth and depth of what these women bring to Taylor University’s permanent collection.
Visitors can expect to see both two and three-dimensional work featuring unique narrative and visions of each woman artist that is featured.
“Visibility for women artists is particularly important because many notable artists from the past are men. We want to showcase the genius and beauty of the work of these women,” said Jeremie Riggleman, Director of the Metcalf Gallery and Assistant Professor of Art. “This is an opportunity to celebrate the ingenuity and impact of these women artists and their legacy within Taylor’s permanent collection.”
The exhibition is open generally from 9 am-4 pm on weekdays until October 10. A closing reception on Saturday, October 5 from 6-8 pm will be held during Homecoming and Family Weekend where some of the featured artists may be in attendance. Admission is free.
