PREACH Initiative

Preparing, Resourcing, Equipping, And Coaching for Homiletic Excellence

Preaching is at the heart of pastoral ministry, yet even the most dedicated pastors need support in learning the art of communicating biblical truths to their congregations. The PREACH Initiative is designed to help pastors become better preachers—equipping them with practical tools, biblical insight, and personalized feedback to communicate God’s Word with greater power and purpose.

Whether you're new to ministry or have preached for decades, Taylor University offers a fresh opportunity to sharpen your message and deepen your connection with your congregation. Led by Rev. Timothy McConnell, the current lead pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Colorado Springs, the PREACH Initiative and the Biblical Studies, Christian Ministries, Intercultural Studies & Philosophy Department will offer a minor in Preaching and Spoken Word, and a certificate in Preaching.

Hone your craft as you proclaim the Gospel

Dr. Richard Allen Farmer PREACH Lab

Rev. Dr. Richard Allen Farmer (1951-2024) served as Dean of the Chapel beginning in the late 1990s. His meticulous knowledge of scripture, compelling oratory skills, and his ability to blend his extraordinary musical talents into services made him amazingly effective in spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ.

After leaving Taylor, he went on to preach in hundreds of campuses and churches across the United States and internationally. Dr. Farmer was a beloved friend of the University, and he returned many times to speak at chapel.

The PREACH Initiative is a place where men and women who have been called by God to take up the pulpit will learn the art of preaching among masters of the craft. It's a joy to have the opportunity to shape the leaders of the church in the United States and around the world.
