Develop your musical gifts while receiving formal training in music theory, history, composition, and technology.
Taylor’s Music major, paired with a focused liberal arts education, will prepare you for a multidisciplinary career in areas such as musical performance, music education and composition, music business and technology, and the history and traditions of the arts.
The foundational Music curriculum balances theoretical knowledge and applied learning in the classroom. In history and music theory courses, Music majors study the genres, styles, principles, and lives of influential composers to discover how music can impact society and culture. In hands-on classes and music labs, you’ll refine your vocal and instrumental gifts under the one-on-one tutelage of professional musicians who share your specialties.
Music professors encourage and advise students as they join instrumental and choral ensembles, build individual repertoires, and perform in recitals and concerts.
