Lights, Camera, Learn!

The 45,000-square-foot Horne Academic Center is a hub of creativity, storytelling, and cutting-edge technology. Recently opened in Fall 2024, it includes custom-designed spaces for audio, video, film and television production for Film & Media Arts students.  You’ll be ready to do your best creative work to the glory of God.

Film Sound Stage

With 3,500 square feet of indoor filmmaking space, you'll construct the set and light the scene with a wide array of professional lighting and grip equipment from Aputure, DeSisti, Stardust and Matthews.

A 26’x13’ virtual production LED screen from Vū Networks with camera tracking and Unreal Engine, allowing you to generate both 2D and 3D backgrounds for film scenes.

Film Finishing & Screening Room

Complete film projects in a professional movie theatre setting. Mix your cinema soundtrack in ProTools, using the Meyers 7.1 Acheron speaker system.

Complete your film’s color grading using DaVinci Resolve software. Your project will come to life on a Stewart Director’s Choice 139” screen, capable of displaying several aspect ratios from a Christie 4K projector.

Television Studio

Hone skills behind the cameras or in front of them. You'll learn the art of live production in a 2,500-square-foot, 4K six-camera studio.

  • Operate Black Magic URSA 2 cameras, Panasonic PTZ remote-controlled cameras, and Autoscript teleprompters.
  • Arrange your lights in the grid using the JLG Scissor lift and bring your live show to life using DMX-controlled DeSisti lighting.
  • Design graphics to appear in the virtual production wall.
