Gathering & Performing Spaces

Diverse venues across campus allow students, faculty, staff, and external guests to host all kinds of events. From outdoor beach parties, concerts and films, and indoor Ethics Bowl competitions, we have the space to fit groups from 20 to 1,600 people. If you are interested in hosting an event or conference at Taylor, contact our Conferences and Event Services team.

LaRita Boren Campus Center/Rediger Chapel

A great place to study, eat, or connect with student development programs, the LaRita Boren Campus Center is a central hub for Taylor’s campus.

At the heart is Rediger Chapel & Auditorium. With seating for up to 1,641 people, Rediger hosts campus chapels, dance competitions, concerts, talent shows, and much more. Rediger is equipped with a performing stage, full sound board and light systems, and three projection screens.

Dining options in Boren include the Jumping Bean coffee shop, Chick-fil-A Express, three other dining destinations in a food court-style setup. Chef-created sushi is also available. The Reade Ave Market convenience store offers snacks, toiletries, and other necessities for purchase.

Surrounding the main eating area on two levels are student development programs, including the offices of Calling and Career, Campus Ministries, Center for Student Development, Counseling Center, Honors Guild, Intercultural Programs, Leadership and Student Programs, Lighthouse, Master of Arts in Higher Education, Residence Life, Spencer Centre for Global Engagement, Student Activities and Student Services Councils, Taylor Student Organization, and Taylor World Outreach.

Campus Police is located in the north end of the facility and serves as the center for emergency communication, the police department, campus vehicle registration, and identification card/card access systems. Next to Campus Police is Cornwall Auditorium, with seating for 300.

Mitchell Theater

Taylor Theatre practices and performs in Mitchell Theater, a space uniquely designed for flexibility in full-length production set design. With a full sound board, lighting, and tiered seating for 320 people, Mitchell Theater hosts the majority of Taylor’s theatrical productions.

Theatre majors also have access to a black box theatre in Rupp Communication Arts Center, which they can use for small productions or theatrical exercises.

Butz-Carruth Recital Hall

Attached to the Smith-Hermanson Music Center, the 218-seat Butz-Carruth Recital Hall boasts a Bösendorfer grand and a Steinway piano. This hall provides quality acoustics for stage performances and recordings and doubles as a lecture hall for classes and conferences.

Euler Science Complex Atrium

Connecting Nussbaum and Euler, the Atrium features a large gathering area for study, musical performances, and events. The collaborative environment allows for a variety of seating arrangements.

Taylor Lake

Taylor Lake’s beachfront comes with two beach volleyball courts, two bonfire pits with seating, a pavilion with picnic tables and grills, and certified lifeguards on duty during summer lake hours.

“The Courtroom”

Located in Ayres Hall, The Courtroom is modeled after structured government seating. A SMART classroom with two projector screens and tiered seating for 64, The Courtroom is used for lectures and special events, such as Ethics Bowl competitions.

Memorial Prayer Chapel

Located in the center of campus between the academic and residential buildings, the Memorial Prayer Chapel was created specifically for prayer. In addition to the 75-seat chapel that can accommodate a whole residence hall wing or floor, there are two small private prayer rooms and many outdoor alcoves for personal prayer. The Memorial Prayer Chapel celebrates the lives of four students and one staff member who passed away in a tragic van accident on April 26, 2006, as well as others who passed away while enrolled or employed by Taylor.
