Scholarships are a type of financial aid that does not need to be repaid, and are awarded based on merit—your grades, ability, or talent. The following scholarships are available to Taylor students.

*Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA at Taylor to retain the President, Dean, and Faculty scholarships, otherwise the scholarship drops to the Trustee Scholarship level.
Test scores must be received by April 1 for merit scholarship consideration.

Eligibility: Must be a National Merit Finalist. This award replaces the President, Dean, Faculty, or Trustee Scholarship.

Eligibility: This is a competitive scholarship for high-achieving, highly academic students. Students who have a 3.70 GPA and a 32 ACT, 1430 SAT, or 98 CLT score may be invited to interview for the Alice Hamilton Scholarship on Scholars Day, November 18, 2024. Students must apply for admission to Taylor University and be accepted by November 1 to be eligible to be invited to Scholars Day.
About: Alice Hamilton was a doctor, worker advocate, peace ambassador, and the first female professor at Harvard Medical School. In 1890, she studied at the Fort Wayne College of Medicine, then a part of Taylor University. Read about her story.

Eligibility: Awarded to all transfer students who have taken at least one semester of college credit after high school. Awards are based on your college GPA.

This academic scholarship is awarded in lieu of other academic scholarships. Scholarship is renewable each year with a cumulative 3.0 Taylor GPA.

Eligibility: This one-time scholarship is awarded to students who enroll full-time at Taylor University who have attended an eligible summer camp, academy, or conference on Taylor’s campus during high school and prior to senior year, and completed the required scholarship process while on-campus during the camp or conference.

Eligibility: All incoming students are eligible for the Christian Leadership and Service Scholarship, in recognition of their community involvement in high school and in expectation of the impact they will make on the Taylor community during their time on campus.

Amount: Full tuition. The scholarship cannot be combined with other scholarships offered by Taylor University. Federal and state aid will be applied to the student’s account first and then Taylor University will meet the remaining balance for full tuition. All eligible applicants should complete the FAFSA.
Eligibility: This scholarship is for American ethnic students or students intentionally engaged in a multi-ethnic community. You must be accepted to Taylor and have demonstrated spiritual, academic, and community leadership. Scholarships will be awarded by a committee after students are invited to participate in Joseph P. Blades Scholarship Day on February 7, 2025. Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA while enrolled at Taylor and participate in intercultural discipleship and leadership program opportunities.

About: Joseph Preston Blades was a 1918 graduate of Taylor University and went on to become a minister. He exemplified what it means to be a servant-leader, demonstrating a clear walk with Christ, concern for fellow humans, combined with a determination to succeed and overcome insurmountable circumstances while giving Christ the glory. Joseph P. Blades reminds us of spiritual leadership, strength, determination, community engagement, kindness, and scholarship modeled by graduates of Taylor University to intercultural leadership.
Type of Aid: Scholarship
Amount: Up to $5,000 per academic year, with a maximum of $20,000 over 4 years
Eligibility: American ethnic minority students, Americans who have lived in another country for an extended period, international students, or students who are intentionally engaged in a multi-ethnic community are eligible. Scholarships are awarded by the Office of Intercultural Programs. Students must maintain a 2.5 GPA while enrolled at Taylor and participate in intercultural discipleship and leadership program opportunities.
Application Deadline: Priority deadline is January 15, 2025 with final submissions required by April 1, 2025
About: Mary McLeod Bethune (1875-1955) was an Christian educator, philanthropist, public leader, and civil rights activist. She believed that the God she served was able to equip her to make a difference in the lives of others. She was educated at a time when her ethnicity and gender made education challenging, yet Mary was not dissuaded. She went on to educate others, advise US Presidents, and leave a lasting influence on the United States of America.

Eligibility: American ethnic students, Americans who have lived in another country for an extended period, international students, or students intentionally engaged in a multi-ethnic community are eligible. Scholarships are awarded by the Admissions office. No application is necessary.
About: Cornelia Arnolda Johanna “Corrie” ten Boom worked with her father and sisters to help Jewish people escape Nazis during the Holocaust by hiding them in their home in the Netherlends, demonstrating Christ-like love for fellow human beings. After the war, she traveled the world, speaking to hundreds of thousands about forgiveness, love, and freedom that can be found in Christ.

Eligibility: Open to all international (F-1 Visa) and non-FAFSA eligible students. Scholarships are awarded by the Office of Intercultural Programs and the Admissions Office. No application is necessary.
About: Luis Palau (1934-2021), originally from Argentina, traveled the world as an evangelist sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ to over 25 million people in 70 nations.

Eligibility: Must be a full-time student; maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale; and give evidence of strong Christian leadership and character. All are welcome to apply, with preference given to residents of Adams or Wells Counties in Indiana.

Video Interview Guidelines
Description: Mr. Austin E. Knowlton, also known as “Dutch”, was the owner and Chairman of the Knowlton Construction Company, an organization started in Bellefontaine, Ohio, in 1937 and whose predecessors dated back to 1906. Mr. Knowlton, through his company, was responsible for over 600 major and significant construction projects throughout Ohio and the Midwest, including school buildings, hospitals, libraries and post offices. His friendship with Taylor University President Milo Rediger was transformative, as it led to the construction of seven major Taylor campus buildings over the course of 20 years.
Mr. Knowlton was a 1927 graduate of Bellefontaine High School in Logan County, Ohio and The Ohio State University, class of 1931, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Engineering. He became an avid sportsman with a 50-year interest in saddle bred horses, an original founding partnership of the Cincinnati Bengals where he served as Chairman, a major ownership interest for many years in the Cincinnati Reds, and a trusteeship of the Little Brown Jug Society for harness racing in Delaware, Ohio. Mr. Knowlton also was a leading philanthropist with The Ohio State School of Architecture named in his honor.

Eligibility: Awarded to a resident of Ohio who graduated from a high school in Ohio, and is interested in majoring in a STEM related field. No separate application needed, recipient will be selected by the Admissions/Financial Aid Office in March.

Eligibility: Most reserved for full-time upperclassmen. No application required. Additional eligibility requirements may be applicable for each scholarship, such as a completed FAFSA form.
Description: The Halbrook Family Foundation affirms its desire to advance the mission of Taylor University to develop servant-leaders marked with a passion to minister Christ’s redemptive love and truth to a world in need. That mission, it believes, can only be truly advanced over time by a free people competing in free markets, unfettered by government in the practice of their faith and in pursuit of their God-given potential. For that reason, it has chosen to establish the Halbrook Freedom Scholarship to inspire and encourage Taylor students of deep Christian beliefs to grasp the essentiality of, and strive to uphold, the enduring principles of the United States of America. In so doing, these recipients will bequeath to the future a way of life that has made this country the most prosperous and generous in human history. There is a special, though not exclusive, interest in helping students interested in entrepreneurship, education, media, and government.
